Cocaine is a strong central nervous system stimulant that interferes with the reabsorption of dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is associated with pleasure, and the more that is availble in the brain, the greater the sense of euphoria is exerienced.

Cocaine can be snorted, ingested orally or injected intravenously. Over a period of time the dosage needed and the frequency of use increase as tolerance is developed.

Crystal methamphetamine is similar to Cocaine in it’s effects on the human body. But unlike Cocaine, methamphetamine is not derived from a plant but is typically synthesized from pseudaphedrine, a common cold medication.

Amphetamines were prescribed heavily in the 1960’s for weight loss but are rarely prescribed today except for the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder.
